It has been obvious for some time that our premises at The Enterprise Centre were bulging at the seams and that since further expansion options there were very limited we should move on to pastures new.
We were extremely fortunate to be able to find suitable accomodation only a few hundred metres away. Ideal in that disruption to staff was kept to a minimum and that we could run both places in parallel during a brief changeover period.
By the end of June the trauma of the move was over and we could enjoy the advantages the new facility has to offer.
The new premises at Borthwick View have a more conventional layout than our previous factory and this has allowed us to make a number of improvements:
Production areas for assembly of all instruments in clean air laminar flow cabinets have been established.
The general throughput of goods inwards, stores, production, test and despatch has been organised using LEAN manufacturing principles. This will simplify our processes and yield greater efficiencies to benefit ourselves and our customers.
